约会与安排(一)
Light: I'd like to fix an appointment with the General Manager, Mr. John. Would eleven tomorrow be all right?
John: I'm afraid not. He's got a rather full day tomorrow.
Light: Could I make it Thursday then, still at eleven?
John: Let me find out...Yes, you can have half an hour, from 11:10 to 11:40. Will that be enough?
Light: Yeah, thanks. My name's Light and my phone number's 8864242, extension 21.
John: Yes, I've got it. But could you tell me if there's anything particular to be discussed?
Light: It's about the cargo shipment.
John: Okay, Mr. Light. You're welcome to come at 11:10 Thursday morning.
Light: Do I have to call to confirm it?
John: No need, sir. If anything unexpected happens, I'll inform you.
Light: Thanks. Good-bye!
John: Bye!
约会与安排(二)
Light: May I call at your office sometime?
John: Certainly. You're always welcome. When would you like to come?
Light: Well, when will it be convenient for you?
John: Let me see, I'm usually busy in the morning. So you might come over some afternoon, say, between four and five, if that suits you.
Light: How about next Monday afternoon?
John: Yes, that's fine. I'll tell my secretary to fix us a working dinner.
Light: That's very kind of you. See you then.
约会与安排(三)
Zhang: Mr.Gate, there're several points about our draft contract that I'd like to discuss with you as soon as possible. Will you be available this afternoon?
Mr.Gate: Let me check with my memo...I'm sorry, today's all filled up. What about tomorrow morning?
Zhang: That'll be fine, but I've got to attend an executive meeting at 9:45.
Mr.Gate: Well, then, suppose we meet at 8:30 tomorrow in your office?
Zhang: Okey, I'll be expecting you at the office first thing tomorrow. See you!
约会与安排(四)
Light: I'm afraid I won't be able to keep my appointment with you next Thursday, after all. You see, I've got to go to New York on urgent business. I'm very sorry about it.
Zhang: Well, I understand, but how long will you be gone?
Light: Only a week or so. I'll be back before the weekend after next. So I'm calling to see if we could change the time for our meeting to Friday after next.
Zhang: Certainly. What about the morning?
Light: No, please come over at three, and after that I'll take you to a restaurant I know.
Zhang: That'd be very kind of you.
Light: See you then! I'm sorry about the postponement.
Zhang: That's alright. Have a nice trip! Good-bye!
Light: Bye! Zhang.
